    Located in northwestern Montana, Sanders Co. covers 1,791,000 acres, with a large amount belonging to National Forest Service.  Sanders Co. southern boundary  is approximately  50 miles  from Missoula, MT and its northern boundary is approximately 150 miles from Spokane, WA. Nestled in the Cabinet Mountains,  Sanders Co. has the famous Clark Fork River flowing through it.

   With a population of 10,227 (2000 census) Sanders Co. offers lots of privacy and an abundance of wildlife. Thompson Falls being the county seat has a population of 1,321, Trout Creek a recreational community has a population of  261, Noxon 230, and Heron close to the Idaho border is home to 149.
